Pumpkin story

Do you know what carving a pumpkin symbolizes for Christians?  Well, I'm going to tell you.

When you pick a pumpkin out at a pumpkin field, you probably will see a whole bunch of pumpkins all different shapes and sizes.  The kids go out and find a pumpkin while the parents sit out and watch.  The little kids probably can't pick up the large ones, and the big kids probably don't want the small ones.  This is sort of (scratch out what I said about not wanting and wanting for a second, just the best way to illustrate this) like God going to send someone into someone's life telling them to tell them about Christ.  Some people might say, "I'm to big for God."  Or, "How could God care about me in this huge world?"  That's sort of how it's like with the large and small pumpkins.
After the kids have their pumpkins everybody all go home.  And when you find time to, everybody will start carving the pumpkins.  The first step is to get out all the stuff you need, this is like the person God sent into the other persons life, getting out there bible.
Next you cut open the lid, the little kids probably need help cutting a lid, or the big kids have never done this before so you show them.  With Gods help the person telling another person opens up the persons heart and they can become a Christian.
Next you take out all the yucky gooey squishy stuff in the middle.  That is like God helping you to take out all the sinful things in your life, and throwing it away in his massive trash bag full of dirty yucky sinful stuff.  :)
Next you carve the outside of the pumpkin, that is like God shaping you after he's got all the gooey icky stuff out.  Which is pretty much just replacing the old stuff with the new.
Finally, you set a light into the pumpkin and light it, this is like God spreading His light into the world through that person.
Now just for fun, imagine God in heaven, He has a pumpkin and is taking out all the yucky stuff and He's putting it into this massive garbage can.  :)
Have fun!!
